Plon, 1888. In French. First edition of the French translation. Frontispiece, a portrait of the author. “The Brothers Karamazov” is the last novel by the great Russian writer F. M. Dostoevsky, which the author wrote for two years. Dostoevsky conceived it as the first part of the epic novel “The History of the Great Sinner”. The novel was completed in November 1880, but before that it was published in parts in “Russian Messenger” in 1879 and 1880. Soon after the publication of the novel in the magazine, Dostoevsky released a separate edition, marked the following, 1881. The writer died two months after the publication. SKUMS300008
