Maxim Grek (1475-1555) – Greek Orthodox monk, humanist, linguist, and philosopher, who played a major role in translating the Holy Scriptures and other philosophical-theological literature into Russian. Vladimir Stepanovich Ikonnikov (1841-1923) – Russian historian. The first edition of this work was published in 1865. Printed in a small number of copies, this work soon became a bibliographic rarity. In a composite (half-leather, cardboard) binding of the era, with gold embossing on the spine.
