Saratovskij istoricheskij sbornik.

In English

Saratov historical collection.

Author:V.Sokolov.
Year:1891
City:Saratov

The Saratov Historical Collection, published for the tricentennial of the city of Saratov, contains the diaries of the priest Gerasim Alexeevich Skopin and his son, the Archpriest Nikolay Gerasimovich, along with their biographies. Both diaries surprisingly contain very few domestic details; the authors are primarily interested in the life of the city and the country. The diaries cover the period from 1762 to 1813 and are an important monument to the history of the Russian Empire. Vasily Pavlovich Sokolov (1854-?) was a writer and a Latin language teacher at the Saratov Spiritual School. He completed his studies at the Kazan Spiritual Academy, where he obtained a master’s degree. He was a member of the Saratov Scientific Archival Commission and actively participated in its “Works.” He edited the Saratov Historical Collection. The book is bound in half-leather, stylized to resemble bindings of the era, with gold embossing on the spine. The original publisher’s cover is preserved under the binding. Restoration (extension) of one corner of the original cover and title page has been done.
