Its author, Mitrofan Pyatnitsky, was a renowned musician, collector of folk songs, and the first conductor of the Russian folk choir. The book includes a study of the Great Russian song repertoire, recordings of songs from the peasants of the Voronezh province, articles from periodicals about Pyatnitsky’s concerts with the peasants, as well as newspaper reviews of the concerts. It is presented in a colorfully illustrated publisher’s cover, executed in chromolithography technique. The cover title reads: “Concerts of M.E. Pyatnitsky with the Peasants.” The spine has been renewed, both sides of the publisher’s cover are duplicated with silver paper; the bottom edge of the title page and the last page are reinforced with a strip of paper.
