The Travels of Benjamin III, a Jewish version of the travels of Don Quixote and Sancho Panza, was written by Mendele Moyher-Sforim in Yiddish and translated into Hebrew. The author sends Benjamin, a dreamer, a learned and well-read person, and Senderl, a poor fellow, an earthly man living in the real world, in search of the ten lost tribes of Israel, to the Promised Land. Incredible comic adventures and ordeals fall to the lot of two naive Jews. The story was first published as a separate book in Vilnius in 1878. The title says: part one.
