Douglas William Freshfield (1845–1934) – British lawyer, mountaineer and writer who edited the Alpine Journal from 1872 to 1880 He was an active member of the Royal Geographical Society and the Alpine Club and served as president of both organizations. He also served as the first president of the Geographical Association from 1897–1911. His presidency was the longest in the history of the Association.
